[REVIEW] Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate reality where ghouls, cannibalistic ‘monsters’ who look exactly like normal people but can only survive by eating human flesh, live among the human population in secret, hiding their true nature in order to evade pursuit from the authorities.

It has 4 seasons of anime and was recently completed. It was also adapted from the manga written by Sui Ishida.

This story revolves about a boy named Ken Kaneki, a college student, who became a half-ghoul after having a surgery, that transfered ghoul organs into his body. He became a normal ghoul and he struggled fitting in the ghoul society.

This photo is so overused.

This anime have a heavy atmosphere with many gory scenes. It is different from other animes that light and cheery atmosphere as this anime tackles the psychological and philosohpical aspects of our society. This anime is also action-packed. With almost every episodes having a fight scene.

The anime itself is good if you haven’t read the manga yet, but if you did. You will be in utter disappointment, especially in the Tokyo Ghoul √A wherein the plot is in utter mess. There were many cut out scenes and it did not justify the manga that it is adapted from. They were a lot of plot holes and most the actions that the characters are taking are not justified enough.

The characters are all good looking if I say so myself, I just loved on how they animate Ken Kaneki, the main character. You can also infer the personalities of the characters just by looking at their character design. I like how most of the characters have their own stories to tell. But in my opinion, it would be much better if they elaborated it more as it would make the story easier to understand.

In conclusion, this is a good anime to watch if your looking for some gory and action packed anime. It has a good animation and sound effects. It also has a dark and heavy atmosphere. It is also a finished anime series so you won’t worry about waiting for the next episode to be aired and you won’t be attacked by cliffhangers. I give this anime an 8.5 out 10 (8.5/10)
